Join the movement to revitalize the democratic processes on Vancouver Island.
VIVA was formed out of the need to play an active role in government starting at the grassroots level.
VIVA is made up of members from a broad cross-section of Vancouver Island residents, representing all walks of life and united in our belief that we can affect change through sustained action.
We are an inclusive group that believes in a respectful, honest, logical, and well reasoned approach to drafting policy and vetting seated policy makers and candidates.
What VIVA stands for:
VIVA is a Non-Profit society that was formed to affect change in local government, specifically as it relates to five key issues which can be summed up as “Good Governance”
- Advocate for a return to the proper function of government at all levels
- Advocate for government efficiency to protect and preserve its resources
- Improve transparency, and ensure open communication and collaboration between public and private sectors
- Advocate for sound, and sensible development policy to address housing and infrastructure issues
- Restore faith in local law enforcement and advocate for a return to law and order in our communities
“There’s a lot of uncertainty about Vancouver Island’s future, which makes the upcoming election in Victoria one of the most crucial events we’ve faced in recent times. What happens in October will set the tone for what happens across the island, and perhaps the entire province. We must act now.
Our residents are calling for legislators at all levels of government who can dynamically lead, and bring innovative solutions to the many issues we are facing. It’s time to come together and be the change we need to see.

VIVA is a group of concerned individuals, constituents, non-profit organizations, and business entities on Vancouver Island who believes that its citizens should have a stronger voice in shaping Vancouver Island’s political and economic future. We strive for a non-partisan government that welcomes active participation and dialogue with our community. We believe we can play a constructive role in shaping the local economy and help to improve the overall quality of life for all who call Vancouver Island home.
VIVA will accomplish this by creating stronger awareness for issues that profoundly affect Vancouver Island’s residents and local businesses and by supporting initiatives that will have a positive impact on the economy and improve the quality of life for all. We will rally support from local lawmakers who share our vision, and identify and support potential candidates who will fight for the interests of the people.

We will support those who can stand behind the causes that matter most to us, and we aim to work together with all political leaders in a non-partisan way to improve life on Vancouver Island for all.
We are a non-profit organization that relies on the fundraising and contributions of our members. These funds will be used to create awareness for our core positions and ignite important conversations at the Legislative level. During election time, we will identify and support candidates who can best represent us in office.
We can’t do this alone. It will take more of us working together to propel this movement through this challenging period. Please join us as we work toward a better future for Vancouver Island.
